Thorntree Lodge - Livingstone home to tame African Elephants, Thorntree Lodge is situated on the Zambian bank of the Zambezi River, 15km upstream from The Victoria Falls bordering Mosi-oa-Tunya park.

- It boasts a central lounge/dining area with a wooden sundeck overlooking the Zambezi River
- Whilst at Thorntree Lodge clients are served three full meals per day.
- An assortment of pre-dinner snacks are prepared and enjoyed on the deck during the early evening.
- All drinks ranging from cordials and soft drinks to local beers and spirits are supplied. Local red and white wines are served with dinner. There is always sufficient alcohol to accommodate any reasonable requirements.

Accommodation

The lodge accommodates 18 guests.

All 9 chalets have a veranda with deck chairs and a private view of the Zambezi river. All but 2 have outside showers. One honeymoon chalet has a outside bath metres above the Zambezi.

Chalets:

¨ One double and six twin-bedded stone under thatch chalets with en-suite shower, toilet and hand basin.

¨ One Executive / Honeymoon chalet with en-suite shower, toilet and hand basin. Also a private deck overlooking the Zambezi River.

Facilities

¨ Swimming pool with a water-level bar and a covered deck overlooking a perennial waterhole and gazebo.

¨ A central lounge / dining area with open sundeck overlooking the Zambezi River.

Minimum Age : 12 years. The lodge does have wild animals roaming around the grounds at various times of the day

The tame elephants are based a few kilometres upstream from Thorntree lodge itself but do occasionally visit with their handlers to make a trunk call.

Common sightings within the Mosi-O-Tunya National Park are white rhino, giraffe, impala, zebra, wildebeest, buffalo and a wide variety of birds

- With six tame African Elephants (Danny, Bop, Madinda, Mushumbi, Marula and Lewa) based a few km's upstream from Thorntree lodge, Elephant Trails and Interaction are easy to arrange.

¨ Adventure activities are at an extra cost – prices on request. We can also arrange day trips to Chobe National Park on request.

N.B. – PLEASE NOTE THAT ALL PARK ENTRY FEES ARE EXTRA AND PAYABLE DIRECT.
i.e. For a Tour of the Falls guests will be required to pay US$10 per person entry fee.
