Travelers Tips
Rainforest
Around the Falls is a rainforest sustained by the spray of the Falls with some plant species rarely found elsewhere in Zambia or Zimbabwe.
Viewing The Falls
- Just 11 kilometers from the town of Livingstone by road.
- At the border post there is a parking area where you can leave your car.
- You can cross the bridge by foot with just your passport and pay a day visa.
Somewhere Over The Moonbow
The spray can be seen for miles, and on a clear, bright, moonlit night it forms something called a “Moonbow". Reputedly one of the most beautiful natural phenomena on the planet. The best time to see the Victoria Falls, "Moonbow" is during a full moon and when the spray is high (Jan - July).
Visas
The two countries permit tourists to make day trips from one side to the other without the necessity of obtaining a visa in advance, but visas issued at the border are expensive. Best is to get a double visa when first entering the country you are staying in.
Currency
US dollars and Rands are accepted on both the Zimbabwe and Zambian side.
The Climate Varies Between:
Perfect (April - August)
to very hot and dry (September - October)
and hot with mainly thunder showers ( Nov - March).
Do not rush your stay in Livingstone. It is the adventure capital of Africa if not the world. So much to see and do that any season is a thrill, even when the water is at it's lowest and the white water rafting is at it's wildest.
No Other Major Waterfall Is Surrounded By Game Parks.
Victoria Falls is now the hub of the largest park in the world, Kavango - Zambezi Transfrontier Conservation Area ( the size of Italy). Also Kaza Park is filled with great animals, birds, trees and insects of every description and size. |
