Resting on the southern banks of the Zambezi River at the western end of the eponymous falls, this popular tourist town is compact enough to walk around and makes an ideal base for travellers exploring the seventh wonder of the world, the unfathomably vast Victoria Falls. About two thirds of the falls can be viewed from the Zimbabwean side and, while the falls are undoubtedly the star attraction, the area provides both adventure seekers and sightseers with plenty of opportunities to warrant a longer stay. Popular activities include scenic flights over the falls in helicopters or micro lights, bungee jumping off the Victoria Falls Bridge, white-water rafting (seasonal), and day trips to Chobe National Park. The town itself offers some excellent accommodation and restaurant options as well as an eclectic variety of African curios and authentic art sold by friendly Zimbabwean locals who are wonderfully welcoming and eager to help you enjoy your stay.
Day Itinerary
Arrival at Victoria Falls Airport. Guests arrive in Victoria Falls in preparation for a 3pm predeparture meeting with their guide and fellow travellers. There the guide will do a briefing of the itinerary as well as provide any need to know information. This will also be an opportunity for the guests to ask any questions they may have about their upcoming safari. Dinner will be held at one of the fine restaurants in Victoria Falls

Victoria Falls Self Catering and Camping Accommodation at the Vic Falls Restcamp is the best budget accommodation available in the Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe. The Rest Camp is situated right in the middle of Victoria Falls town in Zimbabwe making it a perfect place to be based with all amenities within walking distance. The Restcamp is only 2 km from the falls making it the closest campsite to the Victoria Falls.
The security around the camp is a top priority with high stainless steel fences and electric fences making it first-class. The rest camp boasts numerous well maintained grass areas and an abundance of different varieties of trees making the surroundings in the camp very enjoyable. After breakfast you will be met by the guide at the Reception area. He will give a briefing of the day’s activities and you depart to spend at least 3 hours at the Victoria Falls. The Boma – Dinner & Drum Show is a “must do” Victoria Falls dining and entertainment experience, specializing in traditional African food, drumming and dancing. The food is cooked and served in the style and quantity of a lavish feast, including irresistible desserts.
On arrival, you are dressed in a chitenge (traditional sarong) and welcomed into a vibrant atmosphere in which the tantalizing aromas of local dishes and game meat on the braai (barbecue) fill the restaurant, which is partially open to the star-filled African sky.
Your meal begins with a mouth-watering platter of starters whilst the buffet includes soup from the campfire, a range of salads, game meat cooked on a braai (barbecue), followed by desserts. Vegetarian options are also available, as well as local dishes such as peanut butter spinach

Day 3: Hwange Camp Chalets, Hwange National Park
Hwange National Park
Hwange National Park is Zimbabwe’s biggest reserve, home to a profusion of wildlife, including giraffe, lion, zebra and approximately 40 000 elephants. It provides sanctuary for all the country’s endangered species, including a population of wild dogs thought to be among the most sizeable surviving groups on the continent. Terrain ranges from desert dunes and savannah lands to rocky outcrops and sparse forests, and visitors have the choice of game drives, guided walks or horseback safaris as a means of experiencing the park and its creatures.

Day 5: Big Cave Campsite, Matobo National Park
Matobo National Park
Idyllically located in the spectacular Matobo Hills, the renowned Matobo National Park is known for its rich human history, its remarkably diverse flora and fauna and its magnificent rugged terrain. This unspoiled natural wilderness features a range of massive red-tinged, granite boulders interspersed with gorgeous wooded valleys making it a dream destination for hikers, climbers and nature lovers alike. Big Cave Camp is pleased to be able to offer a range of campsites for both the 4 x 4 outdoor enthusiast as well as over land truck companies. The Big Cave campsite is situated only 3 km off the main tarmac road, and is easily accessible (including large camper vans as well as 4 x 4 caravans). The camp site is divided into specific sites designed for the overland trucks, as well as a number of private sites for the 4 x 4 enthusiast. Park fees need not be paid to access the camp site. The campsite is 105 km’s from the Plumtree border, and 370 km’s from the Beitbridge border. This beautiful camp site is located 2 km from the National Park boundary, with wonderful views down the valley into the National Park. Access is through a separate gate which can accommodate large vehicles.

Day 7: Kyle Recreational Park, Great Zimbabwe Ruins
Great Zimbabwe Ruins
Once Zimbabwe’s capital, the ancient city of Great Zimbabwe is the biggest and most significant stone archaeological complex in sub-Saharan Africa. It is also one of its oldest – thought to date back to the 11th century and second only to South Africa’s Mapungwe. Composed entirely of rectangular granite blocks stacked on top of one another without the use of mortar, the walls and towers of the city measure up to 12 metres in places, and it is unsurprising that Great Zimbabwe was designated a World Heritage Site in 1986.

Kyle Recreational Park is 16 900 hectares in extent and is home to more than 25 species of wildlife. A wide variety of fish can be found in the dam.
There is a wide variety of self-catering lodges available, all named after species of wildlife, such as Waterbuck, Elephant, Hippo, and so on. There are 23 camping sites in two locations with ablutions consisting of toilets and hot showers, and there are 5 caravan sites of which 4 have electric power. There are also picnic sites, mainly for day use, which have ablution facilities and fireplaces.

Day 8: Musangano Lodge, Eastern Highlands
Eastern Highlands
Zimbabwe’s eastern border with Mozambique is defined by the Eastern Highlands, comprised of three ranges of hills and mountains featuring the lush rolling hills and endless tea plantations of the Nyanga Range, the soaring granite peaks of the Chimanimani Mountains, and the fertile meadows and rich coffee plantations of the Bvumba Range. These breathtakingly scenic mountains serve as an ideal backdrop for the wide variety of outdoor pursuits on offer such as hiking, horse riding, golfing, and trout fishing. The northern reaches of this remarkable wilderness features predominantly rolling heathland which reminded European Settlers of Scotland leading them to create lakes, plant forests and fill the streams with trout. Once the private estate of Cecil John Rhodes, this northernmost area is now known as the Nyanga National Park. From the gorgeous pine forests and trout lakes of this extraordinary park to the yellowwood trees, protea shrubs and refreshing mountain pools of Chimanimani in the south, the Eastern Highlands is the perfect destination for travellers looking to unwind in the tranquillity of nature.

There are 4 sites available for individual campers as well as a larger site with space for more than 8 tents. Our solar powered thatched ablution blocks are spacious, light and airy. Zimbabwe’s capital city is the country’s most cosmopolitan and contemporary destination, dotted with restaurants and bars, shops and markets. Its proud historical and cultural heritage is reflected in several well-preserved old buildings and informative museums, while its many parks and gardens provide a pleasant contrast to the bustling urban sectors. Located within easy reach of the city centre are the Mukuvisi Woodlands, comprising over 250 hectares of natural wilderness, while The Kopje – a rocky hill to the southwest of Harare – offers great views over the city.

Harare is Zimbawe’s Capital City and is typical of many African cities having a blend of modern high rise buildings – leafy well spaced residential areas with shopping centres – industrial manufacturing and then the over populated and run down poor residential areas that have interesting street side markets. The city is home to approximately 2 million people and dates back to 1890 when it was established as the capital by the early British colonists of Zimbabwe and originally called Salisbury. During your time here you can visit the city centre – Mbare Musika Market – Harare Art Gallery and one of the Shopping Centres in the suburbs of Harare to give you a good all round picture of life in Harare. Harare has the largest farm produce market in Zimbabwe called the Mbare Musika Market..
Farmers deliver their fresh crops every morning and some travel from far away places like Mutare, Masvingo and Kariba to sell their produce. There are also secondary market places in Mbare. The first is Mupedza Nhamo a Shona word loosely meaning The finisher of quandaries . This is a market for cheap clothing where you can purchase a shirt for a little as $1 U.S or a second hand pair of shoes for $5 US This market does not serve only the people from Mbare but all the surrounding suburbs. The second market is Magaba loosely translated to mean tins as in metal containers, this is a market place for metal work and other craftsmanship. This is a hub for budding entrepreneurs and artists where affordable products for the residents of Mbare are made. They make products such as cooking pots, cups, bathing basins and carpentry work such as tables, beds, chairs, display cabinets and even coffins.
